7 Topics to Consider When Starting a Virtual Assistant Services Business

Have you been thinking about starting a virtual assistant services business? Take a look at some of the things to ponder before you jump in. When starting my virtual assistant business, these are some of the things I needed to know and hopefully it will assist you in getting started.

1. Establish your niche
ü What do I have to offer?
ü What have I done in the past or currently doing that I absolutely love doing?
ü Who are my target audiences?
ü What do I NOT want to do? Finding your niche is imperative in the virtual assistant industry.

2. Research, research, research!
ü Research and carefully consider on what to name your company or business. Put a lot of thought into this as this will stay with you forever.
ü Research domain names and don’t be too quick to purchase the first thing you like, make sure it has appeal and easy to remember, same thing to consider for a business name.
ü Research what sort of website you want, blog, Wordpress, etc…
ü Research other VA rates and see how you fit into that category with your particular skill set. Are you qualified to charge that particular amount?

3. Purchase Domain name
ü When purchasing a domain name, consider purchasing for more than one year. This shows longevity, stability and credibility. It will give your clients the satisfaction and comfort of knowing that your plans are to be around for awhile and you take this very seriously.

4. Education and training
ü Consider taking classes to heighten and sharpen skills or to learn something new.
ü Obtain certifications if necessary for tasks you will be performing.
ü Learn the basics of HTML, SEO, blogging and article marketing if you don’t already have this skill set. If this is something you do not want to do, outsource it!

5. Marketing
ü How do I market my virtual assistant business?
ü How in the world do I get the word out to the millions of people on the internet highway?
ü What makes me different than other VAs?
ü How are my skills better or different than others?
ü Why would someone choose my services over others? These are just a few things to seriously think about when it comes to marketing. Don’t have that skill set or simply don’t want to do it, hire someone to do for you!

6. What are your county or state requirements?
ü What sort of licenses is required in your state or county?
ü Do you need Liability Insurance?
ü Do you need to have an LLC or Sole Proprietorship?

7. Miscellaneous
ü Make sure your typing, spelling and grammar skills are all up to speed.
ü Learn how to prioritize and organize.
ü Consider obtaining a coach, mentor or buddy to show you the ropes.
ü Become a part of an active networking community.
ü And last but not least; you must have a positive attitude, be able to work independently and have flexibility.

Be courteous, appreciative and incorporate awesome customer service in everything you do within your business and you will become successful!

Unemployment Tips and Encouragement

There is no need to reiterate the horrible situation with our country’s economy and the trickle down effect it is having on so many lives. There are way too many of us unemployed and searching for employment religiously. We are surfing the internet highway daily, minute by minute, pounding the cold hard pavement, digging as deep as we can and networking our butts off just to find employment! Just to stay afloat, to find a job that will pay our bills and make ends meat.

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel! We can survive and get through this tough situation we are currently in, at no fault of our own-I might add, we can, we must and we WILL!! I don’t know about you, but failure is not an option! We have people counting on us and looking to us for assurance, guidance and direction. Therefore we tried to write an article that was going to be encouraging, motivating and uplifting. Something that will get you to thinking and seeing things in a whole different light, something that hopefully will help you keep your sanity in a tough time and to let you know there are many of us in that same exact situation and we feel your pain!

Here’s what you have to incorporate in your daily routine and make a conscience effort to practice daily and continually:
-Reach down in your spirit and grab that motivation, gut and drive (you know it’s in there) stand tall, keep your head up, be strong and have that never wavering confidence!
-Train your mind to reflect gracious, thankful, peaceful, happy, contentment, loving and genuinely kind thoughts. You are a reflection of your most inner thoughts, remember that!
-Convey that positive friction and attitude of those awesome feelings, excited actions, pleasant thoughts and battles won “out there”! Speak those positive feelings and actions out loud and put it out in the world.
-Go help someone that needs help, serve and assist someone else that could possibly be in a worse situation than you are in, volunteer at your Church or your favorite charity. You will be amazed at how satisfying and empowering this can be, plus it will help you to refocus and get your mind off and onto something else. This little exercise is very enlightening and will probably show you that it’s not as bad as you think it is and you’ll recognize that it’s easier to help someone than you thought it was.
-Face the situation at hand with a victory mind set. Refuse to be defeated, pump yourself up!
-Be diligent and devoted to yourself and the core values you have. Stand up for what you believe in consistently.
-Don’t subject or allow yourself to be defeated, depressed, and lethargic or to give up! Surround yourself with positive, happy, outgoing and confident individuals. Have a new zest for life and know that you will get through this that “this too shall pass”!

Love who you are, know you are on this earth for a reason! Remember that everything and I do mean everything happens for a reason. Although you may not see this right at this moment, however, you can do this, you will survive and you will benefit from it in some way. Stay strong; go forward with diligence and passion and a whole new attitude that will make things so much easier for you and the situation you are in.

Make it a beautiful day!

I am a "Kept" Woman

A sweet and precious friend emailed me this poem and just had to share with all of those that do read my blog. It is so true and hopefully you will get as much out of it as I did. Enjoy and until next time!

I Am a "Kept” Woman?

You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind,
But GOD kept me sane. (Isa. 26:3)

There were times when I thought I could go no longer,
But the LORD kept me moving. (Gen 28:15)

At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong, But the LORD kept my mouth shut. (Psa. 13)

Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,
But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc.., (Matt. 6:25 -34)

When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.
When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!
I'm blessed to be "kept."

Patiently Enduring

Wow, what exactly does that mean? Well, let me tell ya, I know first hand what it means!! Sometimes things happen in our life that we just don't understand the why or the reason. I can assure you there is a reason for it! I know God has a sense of humor and sometimes he has a funny way of getting our attention. He certainly has my full attention.

I have been through some things within the last four weeks that have just literally brought me to my knees! Absolutely gut wrenching things. Of course, that is exactly what He want's. When you are down on you knees, the only thing you can do is look up! You have to know that you know that God has your best interest at heart and He is trying to teach you something.

For some reason, He has been trying to teach me about patiently enduring! Why? I don't have the answer to that just yet, but I will in due time. Sometimes we think we need to get our hands on it or in it to make sure something is taking place and some sort of action is happening to whatever situation we are in. However, that is not what God wants us to do. We have to learn to be patient and endure whatever it is we are going through at that particular time in our life. He certainly will not put you through anything that you cannot handle! What you survive and endure, will make you a stronger and better person for it. I thought I was a pretty strong person! I think God is showing me, yes I am, however, we need to work on a few areas.

So I have come to the realization that you have to continue to be strong, faithful, be in control of your emotions, don't believe everything you see or hear, and have trust in God to know that all will be okay! No matter how bad or bleak it may look, it WILL be okay!! Be bold in your Faith, prayers and know someday you will know exactly why you went through whatever it is you are going through. You will see that light at the end of the tunnel and be thankful for what you have learned and the experiences you have gone through. You will be a better person for it!

A Poem for Mother

I know Mother's Day is over with, however, I wrote a poem to my mother and just thought I'd take my daughter Kenda's advice and put it on my blog as well. Enjoy and if there is anyone out there that would like to hire me to do some writting, I'm all ears!!!
